Background
An 88kDa transcription repressor protein is a human homolog of mouse Blimp-1. It belongs to the family of PRDM family and contains a PR domain and 5 kruppel Like-zinc finger motifs at the C-terminal region. BLIMP-1 plays a pivotal role in inducing and regulating terminal differentiation of B-lymphocytes. It recruits HDAC and complex of Groucho/TLE family proteins to the DNA and actively represses vital genes required for B-cell proliferation including c-myc, CIITA promoter III, CD23b and PAX-5 promoter. BLIMP-1 silences IFNi -gene expression by binding specifically to PRDI of the IFNi gene promoter. It is continuously expressed in all Plasma cells, but is not detected in early bone marrow B-cells, memory B-cells in spleen and most germinal center B-cells. In myeloma cells, PRDI-BF1i , a truncated isoform of BLIMP-1 is expressed that has an impaired ability to repress transcription suggesting a clinical implication.

FAQs for BLIMP1/PRDM1 Antibody (NBP2-27180). (Showing 1 - 1 of 1 FAQ).
I would like to use this antibody for western blotting. Is it recommended for WB test?
This antibody has been validated for Western blotting with samples from human and bovine, and I can confirm that the immunogen sequence for NBP2-27180 is 100% homologous in human, chimp, dog and bovine, 94% homologous in mouse, and 88% homologous in chicken, zebrafish and rat. As such, the antibody would be expected to react with zebrafish Blimp-1, although we do not currently have any testing data from zebrafish that I can share with you.
