Tissue Microarrays

Tissue Microarray (TMA) refers to the practice of relocating multiple tissue sections, often from conventional histologic paraffin blocks, so that tissues from multiple samples can be evaluated on the same slide. TMAs provide a high-throughput histology solution, allowing simultaneous analysis of protein expression in multiple formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues or frozen tissues. Novus Biologicals offers nearly 150 tissue microarrays of healthy and diseased sections for high-throughput analysis of human, rat, mouse, and primate tissue by immunohistochemistry (IHC). In addition, our human cancer TMAs provide access to cancerous and normal adjacent tissue pairs from the same donor on the same slide, allowing you to assess differential expression of your target in normal and disease state tissue.

What are the Benefits of using Tissue Microarrays?

CD11b/Integrin alpha M and Neurogranin expressed in the human cerebral cortex in microglia and neurons, respec-tively.
Tissue sample from human prostate cancer TMA panel [NBP2-30169] detecting HDAC6 (red) and Nuclei (blue) by IHC.
  • High-throughput, multiplexed format. Analyze over 75 tissue cores at one time.
  • Experimental uniformity. Each tissue core undergoes the same experimental conditions.
  • Access to scarce tissue sections. Normal and diseased tissue available to test differential expression.

Features of a TMA slide:

Compare potential layouts for tissue microarrays containing 24 to 240 tissue sections per slide with sample sizes ranging from 1 mm to 4 mm.
Comparing tissue samples arrayed at different densities.
  • Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human tissues or frozen human tissues
  • 24-146 tissue samples per slide
  • 1 mm to 4 mm diameter spots, 4 μm thick
  • Variety of cancerous and normal adjacent tissues
  • Many organs available
  • Ready-to-use for:
    • Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
    • In situ hybridization (ISH)
    • RNAscope® ISH
    • Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)
