Application Notes | This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques. This antibody recognises transferrin a protein which can bind two Fe3+ ions in association with the binding of an anion, usually bicarbonate. It is responsible for the transport of iron from sites of absorption and heme degradation to those of storage and utilization. Serum transferrin may also have a further role in stimulating cell proliferation. This antibody can displace transferrin from the transferrin receptor. |

Transferrin: "Ironing" out the Details of Cellular Anemia Transferrin is a protein found in the blood plasma, a glycoprotein that is specific for controlling free iron in the bodies' biological fluids. Transferrin has two binding sites that are specific for very tight and reversible iron binding. The binding... Read full blog post. |
