This ABCE1 antibody is useful for Immunoprecipitaton, Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence, and Western Blot. In ICC/IF, mitochondrial staining was observed in HeLa cells. In Western Blot, a band was seen ~68 kD representing ABCE1. The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors.
Theoretical MW
68 kDa. Disclaimer note: The observed molecular weight of the protein may vary from the listed predicted molecular weight due to post translational modifications, post translation cleavages, relative charges, and other experimental factors.

Background
ABCE1 (ATP-binding cassette sub-family E member 1), also named RLI or HP68, belongs to ABC transporter superfamily/ABCE family and is composed of two nucleotide binding domains and an N-terminal Fe-S binding domain. ABCE1 heterodimerizes with RNASEL leading to its inhibition and has the ability to associates with HIV-1 Vif, HIV-1, HIV-2 and SIV Gag proteins. Evolutionarily highly conserved, ABCE1 localize to cytoplasm/mitochondrion as well as to virus formation clusters at plasma membrane and its highest expression has been observed in brain, kidney, prostate etc. where it gets activated by HIV-1 or EMCV (encephalomyocarditis virus). Originally identified as an RNase L inhibitor, ABCE1 has now been implicated in more fundamental processes of translation and ribosome biogenesis, and can regulate functions including viral infection/assembly of immature HIV-1 capsids, tumor cell proliferation, anti-apoptosis and is also a candidate for tumor-suppressor protein.
