Application Notes |
ELISA: NBP2-21802 binds free glucagon in solution. The biotin conjugated version of this antibody, NBP2-21802B, forms a sandwich ELISA pair with NBP2-21803 (as capture antibody) for measuring glucagon. We recommend using NBP2-21803 for any immunostaining experiments. |

Background
The protein encoded by the Glucagon gene is actually a preproprotein that is cleaved into four distinct mature peptides. One ofthese, glucagon, is a pancreatic hormone that counteracts the glucose-lowering action of insulin by stimulatingglycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis. Glucagon is a ligand for a specific G-protein linked receptor whose signallingpathway controls cell proliferation. Two of the other peptides are secreted from gut endocrine cells and promotenutrient absorption through distinct mechanisms. Finally, the fourth peptide is similar to glicentin, an activeenteroglucagon. (provided by RefSeq)
