Uteroglobin/SCGB1A1 protein is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by the ability of the immobilized protein to support the adhesion of the A549 human lung carcinoma cells is less than 5.0 ug/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 200 IU/mg.

Background

Uteroglobin, also known as secretoglobin family 1A member 1 (SCGB1A1), is a protein with anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. It is a member of the secretoglobin family, which includes small, secreted, disulfide-bridged dimeric proteins found only in mammals. Uteroglobin is a secretory protein induced by progesterone. It is present in the mucosal epithelia of nearly all organs and in many body fluids. The protein is also involved in anti-chemotactic, anti-allergic, anti-tumorigenic, and embryonic growth-stimulatory activities.
