Reconstitution Instructions
Recommended to centrifuge prior to opening. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0mg/mL. Apportion stock solutions into working aliquots and store at <-20C.
Notes
This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Background
Human FGF-13 encoded by the FGF13 gene, belongs to the FGF-11 subfamily which has four members FGF-11 to FGF-14. These four members were initially referred to as fibroblast growth factor homologous factors (FHFs) because they have high sequence identity with the other FGFs but did not activate FGF receptors (FGFRs) and were not generally considered members of the FGF family. FGF-13 plays a crucial role in neuron polarization and migration in the cerebral cortex. In murine FGF-13 RNA was detected in developing central nervous system in cells, and was also found throughout the peripheral nervous system.
