Background

RAN, member RAS oncogene family, also known as RAN, is a small GTPase of the Ras superfamily that controls nucleocytoplasmic transport. It is involved in the directionality of the process that is regulated by GTP hydrolysis. Ran shuttles between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. Unlike many other regulatory GTPases, Ran is not posttranslationally modified so that it can be targeted to the subcellular compartment where it acts. Rather, RanGTP has been thought to be localized by the differential localization of Ran regulators. Recombinant human RAN, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques

FAQs for Ran Recombinant Protein (NBP1-45255). (Showing 1 - 2 of 2 FAQ).

  1. If Ran is not in its GTP form, how to get Ran-GTP? (buffer, reaction time and temperature, GTP kind, etc)
    • We do not anticipate that this protein is active, and it is not recommend for functional assay. NBP1-45255 has been validated in ELISA (for standard curve) and PAGE (protein control) only. If wanting to perform functional assay, the mammalian cell expressed Ran protein will be more suitable. Unfortunately I do not have such information, but can only provide you the general references for you to check: Woo IS., et al. (2008) Apoptosis. 13(10):1223-31 and Ren M., et al. (1994) Mol Cell biol. 14(6):4216-24.
  2. Is this protein good for RNA nuclear export assay?
    • Since we do not provide any active Ran, we do not have recommended protocol for RNA nuclear export assay.
