Cyclization recombinase
Background
Cre recombinase or cyclization recombination enzyme is a bacteriophage-P1 enzyme belonging to large family of recombinases which are required for maintenance of the phage genome as a monomeric plasmid in the lysogenic state. Cre is well known for facilitating a site-specific recombination between two 34 base pair loxP sites. If a DNA seqment is flanked by two loxP sites in the same orientation, Cre excises that seqment leaving a single loxP site in the remaining DNA molecule, and the excised DNA segment is subsequently degraded. Cre and lox comprises Cre/lox system which has been used extensively for multiple in vitro and in vivo applications including targeted gene deletions, gene-specific humanized animal models, as well as in plants and microorganisms stocks.

FAQs for Cre Antibody (NB100-56133). (Showing 1 - 2 of 2 FAQs).
A customer is looking for a Cre Antibody, raised in either rabbit or goat, suitable for IHC-F. Would you know of a suitable Cre antibody that fits the above criteria and also been published for IHC-Fr? If known, can you also provide details of the publication?
With regards to your customer's inquiry on our Cre antibodies, we do have a wide range of antibodies that would be suitable to use in IHC for frozen sections. NB100-56134 for instance has been tested and validated for IHC-fry and there is one cited PubMed publication on it as well.
Can I use this antibody for protein immunoblots of flox/flox and flox/flox cre animals to show cre is expressed only in the flox/flox cre animals?
Our NB100-56133 Cre antibody is specific to the cre enzyme. When using this antibody, you should only detect a band on your blot when the cre enzyme is present. There should be no detection of your floxed mice as long as cre is not expressed or added.
Understanding DNA Recombination with Cre-Lox Cyclization recombination enzyme (Cre) is a member of the extensive family of recombinases and recognizes a 34 bp sequence motif from PI bacteriophage referred to as LoxP. The Cre enzyme works to cleanly excise an intervening DNA fragment that is flan... Read full blog post.
