ADAM19 (a disintegrin and metalloprotease 19; also MADDAM and Meltrin-beta ) is a 95‑100 kDa member of the M12B peptidase family of enzymes. It is expressed on multiple cell types including monocytes, fibroblasts, osteoblasts and dendritic cells. The human ADAM19 proenzyme is a 931 amino acid (aa) type I transmembrane protein. It contains a 178 aa cleavable proregion (aa 26‑203) and a 497 aa extracellular domain (ECD) (aa 204‑702). The ECD contains a metalloprotease domain (aa 211‑409), a disintegrin region (aa 417‑503) and a Cys-rich domain (aa 504‑650). The ECD circulates in plasma bound to 700 kDa alpha 2-Macroglobulin. One splice variant shows an alternate start site at Met71, while two isoforms show variations after Lys902. Over aa 205‑702, human ADAM19 is 87% aa identical to mouse ADAM19.
