Ruptured appendicitis is the most extreme form of appendicitis and most commonly occurs when a person having appendicitis prolongs seeking help. If the appendix ruptures, the liquid from the intestines and other organs would leak into the appendix and cause extreme infection. The symptoms of a ruptured appendicitis would start out much like a standard appendicitis (abdominal pain and nausea) but it would progress and the patient would feel a much greater pain and get much sicker than before. Ruptured appendicitis is treated by an appendectomy but then the fluid which has leaked throughout the body must be cleaned out so that infection will not arise in another area.
