Rheumatic Chorea: Disease Bioinformatics

Stemming from Rheumatic Fever, Rheumatic Chorea, also known as Sydenham chorea, is a movement disorder. Rheumatic Fever is a disease that develops from an infection with A Streptococcus bacteria in which these bacteria begin as strep throat or scarlet fever and evolve into Rheumatic Fever if they are not treated. Most common in girls before puberty, Rheumatic Chorea is caused by the improper treatment or recurrence of Rheumatic Fever. The symptoms of Rheumatic Chorea include change in handwriting, uncontrollable movements, and lack of motor and emotional control. Rheumatic Chorea is treated with the antibiotics used to treat Rheumatic Fever and symptoms usually clear within a few months.
