Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune inflammatory disease that affects the Central Nervous System (CNS) by interfering with nerve signal transmission. Most cases of Multiple Sclerosis reach a chronic progressive phase where irreversible neurological deficits occur more quickly than before. Therapeutic options for chronic progressive Multiple Sclerosis are limited. Chronic Progressive Multiple Sclerosis is seen by some as an outdated term that describes any form of progressive Multiple Sclerosis (which, by definition, includes a worsening of symptoms overtime).
