Demyelination: Disease Bioinformatics

Demyelination is a disease that damages the myelin sheath of a neuron. The disease affects the entire nervous system, so the symptoms range from weakened senses to deteriorated cognition to impaired movement depending on which neurons were affected and what signals were carried. Demyelination has a variety of causes, including genetics, environmental factors, or autoimmune reactions. The most common demyelinating disease is multiple sclerosis.
