Description
CYP46A1 (cytochrome P450, family 46, subfamily A, polypeptide 1) belongs to the cytochrome P450 family which consist of a variety of enzymes that are involved in catalyzing reactions. CYP46A1 is expressed in the brain and is involved in turnover of cholesterol through the conversion of cholesterol to 24S-hydroxycholesterol. CYP46A1 is known to have interactions with CH25H, CYP27A1, CYP39A1, CYP7A1 and CEL. Recent studies of CYP46A1 have been conducted in relation to Alzheimer's disease.
