Cardiac Arrest: Disease Bioinformatics

Cardiac Arrest is caused by a heart arrhythmia which is when the electrical signals inside the heart suddenly become erratic. When all of the electrical signals go into total chaos, the heart suddenly stops beating, usually resulting in death. Cardiac arrest should be treated with CPR immediately to support the blood circulation. Once the CPR creates a shockable rhythm, a defibrillator is used to shock the patient’s heart so that it can reorganize itself and resume a regular heartbeat. People with underlying heart conditions, previous heart attack, and heart disease are more susceptible to cardiac arrest as well as users of illicit drugs. Cardiac should not be confused with heart attack.
