Venous Thrombosis: Disease Bioinformatics

Thrombosis is the interruption of blood flow by a clot in the blood vessels. Venus Thrombosis occurs in the veins which are the blood vessels that carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart. Venus Thrombosis can be caused by obesity, particular medications, cancer treatment, or recent fractures and is common following surgeries that cause prolonged immobility. Symptoms of Venus Thrombosis include varicose veins, swelling in the extremities, and isolated pain and commonly happens in the lower extremities. Venus Thrombosis can be treated with anti-clotting medications, enzymes that brake down the clot, and catheters to expand the affected vein.
