Heart septal defects refer to any defect involving the septum of the heart. Two forms of heart septal defects are atrial septal defect and Ventricular septal defect. Atrial septal defect is a defect that enables blood flow between the left and right atria. Ventricle septal defect is a defect in the left and right ventricles of the heart. Often heart septal defects do not have to be treated, but when treatment is required surgery is the most effective procedure.
