Congenital Heart Disease: Disease Bioinformatics

Congenital Heart Disease is when there are problems with the heart at birth. Accounting for the most birth defects, Congenital Heart Disease is divided into two types: cyanotic, which is when the skin turns blue because lack of oxygen, and non-cyanotic. Congenital Heart Disease is still being researched, but some causes may include exposure to chemicals, alcohol, infections, and high blood sugar during pregnancy. Symptoms of Congenital Heart Disease are not always apparent right away, but some conditions can be diagnosed from a pregnancy ultrasound. Treatments from Congenital Heart Disease vary on the type of condition, but some can go untreated or they can be treated with medications or surgery.
