Pancreatic stem cells (PSC) are pluripotent cells responsible for pancreatic regeneration, and are particularly of interest due to their implication for regeneration of insulin producing beta-cells, which are integral in diabetes pathogenesis. PSCs have the potential to differentiate into all three germa layers. Major markers present on the surface of PSCs include Oct-4, Nestin, SSEA1, and c-kit.
