DAPI Solution Summary
Description
DAPI is excluded by viable cells but can penetrate cell membranes of dying or dead cells, in which it intercalates into double stranded nucleic acids. Dead cells which take up DAPI will fluoresce brightly around 461nm. DAPI may be excited by the UV or violet lasers although the UV laser is much more efficient. DAPI's emission spectra is very similar to the Pacific Blue (TM) dye. Supplied at a concentration of 1 mg/ml.
