Heart Aneurysm: Disease Bioinformatics

Heart Aneurysm is a serious medical condition that occurs when the aorta develops a bulge at a weak spot within the aortic wall. When blood collects at this spot, pressure builds within the aorta and can cause it to burst. Heart aneurysm causes approximately 15,000 deaths each year in the United States. Heart aneurysm can be diagnosed through an electrocardiogram, a chest x-ray, or an echocardiogram. If it has been properly diagnosed, blood thinning agents may be given to help reduce the chances of blood thickening and clots forming, along with the use of drugs to correct the rhythm of the heart.
