Recombinant Mouse FABP1/L-FABP Protein Summary

Description
A single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 127 amino acids corresponding to FABP1/L-FABP Source: E. coli

Uniprot ID: P12710

Amino Acid Sequence: MNFSGKYQLQ SQENFEPFMK AIGLPEDLIQ KGKDIKGVSE IVHEGKKIKL TITYGPKVVR NEFTLGEECE LETMTGEKVK AVVKLEGDNK MVTTFKGIKS VTELNGDTIT NTMTLGDIVY KRVSKRI

Details of Functionality
liver FABP Protein is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The binding affinity of rMuFABP1 for the synthetic ligand cis-parinaric acid has been measured by fluorescence titration. Half maximal fluorescence of 2.5 uM rMuFABP1 is achieved with approximately 5 uM cis-paranaric acid.

Store at -20 to -70C as supplied. After reconstitution, store at 2 to 8C for 1 month and at -20 to -70C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Buffer
Lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered concentrated solution in PBS, pH 7.4, 2 % trehalose.
Preservative
Trehalose
Concentration
LYOPH
Purity
>95%, by SDS-PAGE and HPLC
Reconstitution Instructions
Recommended to centrifuge prior to opening. Reconstitute in sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0mg/mL. Apportion stock solutions into working aliquots and store at <-20C.

Notes

This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-8 degrees C, but should be kept at -20 degrees C for long term storage, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is most stable at -20 to -80 degrees C, and can be stored for one week at 2-8 degrees C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20 degrees C to -80 degrees C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Background

The fatty-acid-binding proteins (FABPs) are a family of carrier proteins for fatty acids and other lipophilic substances such as eicosanoids and retinoids. These proteins are thought to facilitate the transfer of fatty acids between extra- and intracellular membranes. FABP (FABP1) encoded by the FABP1 gene, also known as liver-type fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP), is a member of FABP family and it is a small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins. In addition, FABP (FABP1) binds free fatty acids and their coenzyme A derivatives, bilirubin, and some other small molecules in the cytoplasm. Furthermore, it may be involved in intracellular lipid transport. Through amino acid sequence comparison, murine FABP (FABP1) shares 84 % and 94 % a.a. sequence identity with human and rat FABP1.

Limitations

This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Peptides and proteins are guaranteed for 3 months from date of receipt.
