Autoimmune hepatitis is inflammation in your liver that occurs when your body's immune system attacks your liver. It affects women more than men (70%) and generally affects young women. If left untreated, this disease will progress over time and eventually lead to cirrhosis of the liver and/or liver failure. There is no cure for Autoimmune Hepatitis, although there are drugs that commonly lead to replase in 60-80% of cases, and liver transplantation in severe cases.
