SLC36A4 is a gene that codes for a protein with two isoforms, measuring 504 and 369 amino acids in length, with weights of approximately 56 and 41 kDa respectively. The protein encoded by SLC36A4 functions as a sodium-independent electroneutral transporter for proline, tryptophan, and alanine.
