Background

ICAM1 is a 85-110 kDa single chain type 1 integral membrane glycoprotein with an extracellular domain of five immunoglobulin superfamily repeats, a transmembrane region and a cytoplasmic domain. It shares considerable amino acid sequence homology with ICAM3 and with ICAM2. ICAM1 is expressed by activated endothelial cells. It is detected on cells of many other lineages (e.g. epithelial cells, fibroblasts, chondrocytes, B lymphocytes, T lymphocytes (low), monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells and neutrophils), with lower levels that increase in inflammation. ICAM1 is also detected in some carcinoma and melanoma cells. Soluble ICAM1 is detectable in the plasma and is elevated in patients with various inflammatory syndromes. It is the receptor for rhinoviruses and malaria.

  1. Could you please tell me whether the cat# NBP2-22540 can be used for IF.
    • Our ICAM1 antibody with catalogue number NBP2-22540 has not been validated for immunofluorescence with cells. It has however been tested for blocking/neutralising experiments, ELISA, flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded tissue samples from mouse. It has not been tested with samples from any other species than mouse.
  2. Could you please tell me whether the cat# NBP2-22540 can be used for IF.
    • Our product NBP2-22540 has been validated in Flow and IHC in paraffin-embedded tissues. We have not yet tested the antibody in ICC. It is likely that this product would work in ICC as it has been found to work in other similar applications. We can also perform custom conjugations if you are interested in a directly conjugated antibody.
