Made to Human CD42b
Specificity
Recognises the human CD42b cell surface antigen, also known as platelet glycoprotein GP1B. CD42b is expressed by platelets and megakaryocytes. Clone AK2 has been reported to block the binding of von Willebrand Factor (VWF) to platelets (1).

Background
CD42b is a platelet activation marker involved in the process of coagulation as an aggregating factor. It interacts with extracellular matrix as well as with adhesion molecules. Its expression and activation seems to be regulated by VEGF and PDGF.
