MD-2 Antibody [DyLight 488] Summary
Immunogen |
Antibody was raised against a peptide corresponding to 13 amino acids near the center of human MD-2. The immunogen is located within the last 50 amino acids of MD-2. Amino Acid Sequence: CSFKGIKFSKGKYK |
Specificity |
Human MD-2 has 2 isoforms, including isoform 1 (160aa, 18kD) and isoform 2 (130aa, 15kD). Mouse MD-2 has one isoform (160aa, 18kD) and Rat MD-2 also has one isoform (160aa, 18kD). NBP1-77201 can detect human, mouse and rat. |

Background
The Toll-like receptor (TLR) family in mammal comprises a family of transmembrane proteins characterized by multiple copies of leucine rich repeats in the extracellular domain and IL-1 receptor motif in the cytoplasmic domain. Like its counterparts in Drosophila, TLRs signal through adaptor molecules. Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), the principal signaling receptor for lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in mammals, requires the binding of MD-2 to its extracellular domain for maximal responsiveness. MD-2 enables TLR4 to respond to a wide variety of LPS partial structures, Gram-negative bacteria, and Gram-positive lipoteichoic acid, but not to Gram-positive bacteria, peptidoglycan, and lipopeptide.
