Background
This protein belongs to the basic helix-loop-helix family of transcription factors. It is a transcriptional repressor of genes that require a bHLH protein for their transcription. The protein has a particular type of basic domain that contains a helix interrupting protein that binds to the N-box rather than the canonical E-box.

This antibody has been created to detect the human HES1 protein (UniProt Q14469). The immunogen information given states that the immunogen corresponds to amino acids 1-280 of human HES1, which according to the UniProt entry I've just linked to is the whole protein. I think the mention of Drosophila in the specificity information is referring to the derivation of the name of this protein. Wikipedia says, 'Transcription factor HES1 (hairy and enhancer of split-1) is a protein that is encoded by the Hes1 gene, and is the mammalian homolog of the hairy gene in Drosophila'.
